Pokhara’s because of stunning and bewitching beauty has been the subject matter of many travel writers and tour operators. It is ‘the jewel in the Himalaya’ because of its perfect air, peaceful lakes, extravagant backdrop of snowy peaks and surrounding greenery all contributes in making this place, a place of remarkable natural beauty. Pokhara is the final destination for relaxation because of the outstanding Annapurna range which is forming the background and the tranquility of three major lakes – Phewa, Rupa and Begnas. Pokhara Valley, where many a trekker finds his Shangri-la, and which is a gateway to the Annapurna region stands high on the list of ‘must visit’ places in Nepal.


Once Pokhara is treated as an important trade route between India and Tibet but now a days on the city outskirts, mule trains set up camps for bringing goods from remote Himalayan regions including Mustang. World-wide famous as fierce Gurkha warriors, Gurungs and Magars are predominant here. Thakalis who are famous for their entrepreneurship and running tea houses along the trek routes in the Annapurna region are the natives of the ThakKhola region of Mustang.

Pokhara has a sub-tropical climate but because of its elevation the weather is generally quite mild and it is a year-round destination.
